The 2017 update of the naked Kawasaki Z1000SX is about complete and ready to launch. The 2017 Kawasaki Z1000SX is more than just an upgrade with two alphabets added in the end. A significant new inclusion is the IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) which offers superior control and the electronic inclusions and enhanced cornering with tweak able traction control. The back-torque on downshift is reduced by the addition of slippery clutch which also lowers the clutch pull. The additional new settings of the ECU are implemented according to the Euro4 compliance.
Apart from brand new fairing the Kawasaki Z1000SX has a higher, double bubble shaped windscreen with a thicker padded seat and never before seen LED light system. The new lights claim to increase brightness by 40 percent.
The facelift of the Kawasaki Z1000SX is not purely a beauty addition; there is a significant change in the operation and display of the instrument panel. The pannier system has also received a revision to correct the complaints of the older variant.
At first look, the design of theKawasaki Z1000SX seems like a mix of Z1000 and Ninja ZX-10R. The aim of releasing the new variant by Kawasaki was to offer the biking community a bike which is easy to handle, comfortable to ride while performing like a sport ride.
The need for a stylish looking bike doesn’t come at the cost of performance and practical design. Weighing at 231kg, 1044cc engine generates a power output of any superbike in the same category.
The adjustable windscreen offers the rider the power to monitor the aerodynamic design of the bike. The split seats are as comfortable for the rider as it for the pillion. Apart from the windshield, the rear shocks and 43mm fork are adjustable as well. The design of the exhaust system remains unchanged from the SX bikes.
The instrument panel is refreshingly sporty and features a wide multi-functional LCD screen in addition to a tachometer. The design influence of the Ninja ZX-6R is evident in the Z1000SX’s instrument panel. The functions included in the same are fuel gauge meter, odometer, speedometer, tachometer, warning lamps and dual trip meters.
For any bike in the street-sports segment, performance is more than just numerical approximations. The 16 valve, liquid cooled DOHC engine generates a powerful torque at 101.5kW. The high rpm achieved on the slightest increase in throttle is because of the down draft components of the throttle body. Although, the direction of power delivery is linear, an increase in the engine spin-off is noticeable when the rpm exceeds 7000. But, this does not mean smooth riding cannot be achieved at low speed. The bike delivers a satisfactory performance even while riding at mid-high rpm. At high speeds, the commonly faced issue of vibration is eliminated by the addition of a secondary balancer along the sixth web on the crankshaft.
The motorbike is available in three colours- Candy Lime Green, Metallic Spark Black and Candy Burnt Orange.
