A guide to riding your motorbike in Dudley

Dudley is a fantastic town to go for motorbike rides in thanks to the huge number of roads that connect it to the neighbouring areas. You can take a different route every weekend for a year and never take the same route twice. If you are planning to sell your bike in Dudley and get a new one, there are a few things you need to keep in mind.

The most important thing is to sell your bike to someone who understands its value. Certified dealers will give your bike a tune-up and offer a thorough estimation of its worth. They will also make sure that it goes to someone who has proper use for it. If you sell it to a shady dealer, not only will they short-change you, they practically have to, as they are not going to get its worth back when they re-sell it. It is basically a drawn-out process of gutting your bike. You need to make sure that you have all the service records in order so that you have a good idea of its depreciation before you blindly trust the amount you are offered.

Great biking roads

1.    B4364/A454/Himley Road, from Dudley to Ludlow – This is an iconic road around Dudley thanks to Dom’s Biker Cafe. If you are looking for a ride on a lazy Sunday afternoon, this is perfect. You have a very nice mix of third gear corners, although you need to watch out for tractors and mud. You can take the Himley Road from Dudley through Gomal. That gives you a chance to stop over at The Crooked House. Then you head on over to the A449 and ride out towards Bridgenorth. Once you get there, look for A458 up the dual carriageway and once you see it, turn left on the roundabout and follow the directions to Ludlow.

2.    Alcester to Worcester on the A422 – Just 28 miles off Dudley, you get to let your motorbike rip through the vast and sweeping road between Alcester and Worcester. The road is practically traffic-free and you get to enjoy the sweeping curves without any interruption. You will also find a petrol pump about two-thirds along the way. So, you don’t have anything to worry about. If you are a keen biker, this is just the kind of road you will lap up to.

CAMRA Pub Guide

1.    Robin Hood, Collis Street – This pub has some of the finest ales from the local breweries along with some great food and an incredibly warm and inviting atmosphere. The front of the house has a collection of beer bottles featuring some of the most historic brews. The pub also hosts a highly popular music and beer festival in the month of October. Needless to say, the place is biker-friendly and is a staple of the local crowds and the visitors.

2.    Brierley Hill, Delph Road – This pub is home to the Bathams brewery. It has a long corridor that branches off into various rooms. The place is known for its ales and has some iconic brews that are worth riding out for in your bike. The food they serve has incredible value for money and you get bar snacks round the clock. If you are looking for an unpretentious place to try out some of the finest ales, look no further.

3.    Lamp Tavern, High Street – The front bar of this pub tends to be busy most of the time and features a really comfortable area for lounging. It also has a function room at its back, which used to house the brewery building, that hosts comedy nights and live music on a regular basis. If you are driving through the area and not a local, that’s great news as you can find excellent accommodation at Lamp Cottage which is adjacent to the pub.

4.    King Edward VII, Stourbridge Road – This recently refurbished establishment has a comfortable and cozy two-roomed pub that sells local Holden and Enville’s beers. They have a large lounge at the front that features banquet seating. They also have a quiet and peaceful back room in case you want to get your drink in peace. They serve lunch, which is great if you are looking to grab a drink and get some rest before you ride out in the evening.

5.    Windsor Castle Inn, Stourbridge Road – Located on the same road, this pub happens to be the Sadler brewery’s tap house and they showcase a full range of regular as well as special brews. You will be surprised at the variety on offer, and just when you think it can’t possibly be topped, they blow you away with the most amazing home made food served during lunchtime and on evenings. You can go for a beer take-away if you have plans to visit the famous curry houses in the locality.
